Arianna Occhipinti among the World’s 50 Best Vineyards
The Arianna Occhipinti commercial farm has earned a remarkable accolade, ranking 78th in the 2025 “51–100” list of the World’s 50 Best Vineyards, a prestigious international recognition celebrating the finest wine destinations and wine tourism experiences around the globe.
For Arianna Occhipinti and her team, this honour marks an important milestone, one that reaffirms the strength and vision of a project deeply rooted in respect for nature, biodiversity, and the people of Sicily. “Being included among the world’s best vineyards”, said Arianna Occhipinti, founder of the winery, “is a tribute to our daily commitment and to the deep bond we share with this land. It’s an invitation to keep nurturing the soil and letting our wines speak, their voice carries the spirit of this place and the passage of time that has shaped them”.
The international recognition highlights not only the winery’s exceptional wines but also the complete experience it offers visitors, from warm hospitality and immersive tastings to Chaza, the estate’s unique accommodation project nestled in the unspoiled countryside of Chiaramonte Gulfi. Occhipinti’s inclusion in the World’s 50 Best Vineyards further underscores Sicily’s growing role as one of the world’s leading wine regions. Born in Marsala and raised in Vittoria, Arianna Occhipinti inherited her love for the vineyard from her uncle Giusto Occhipinti, co-founder of the renowned COS winery, and her creative spirit from her father, architect Bruno Occhipinti. In 2004, at just 22 years old, she founded her own estate with a single hectare of Nero d’Avola and Frappato, along the ancient Strada Provinciale 68—a historic wine route that once connected Gela and Kamarina and now runs through the heart of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria region.
Today, her estate spans 40 hectares of vineyards, complemented by olive groves, orchards, and gardens that supply products for the Orto & Dispensa line, including olive oil, pasta, fruit preserves, and capers. Occhipinti’s reputation reached international prominence in 2012 when The New York Times wine critic Eric Asimov profiled her as a leading voice in the global natural wine movement. Her winemaking philosophy, deeply inspired by biodynamic principles, seeks harmony between the vineyard, the vintner, and the land. For her, wine must be authentic, telling the story of its origin, its seasons, and the people who craft it, free from chemical additives both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
The estate cultivates only native Sicilian grape varieties: Frappato, Nero d’Avola, Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Grillo, Albanello, and Zibibbo, producing ten labels in total. Annual production reaches around 160,000 bottles, distributed across 60 countries on five continents.
Beyond wine, the Occhipinti farm embodies a holistic agricultural vision: one hectare of Coscia and Gentile pears, 20 hectares alternating between Tummìnia wheat and legumes, 20 hectares of century-old olive trees (Tonda Iblea and Nocellara del Belice), as well as citrus groves, carob trees, and vegetable gardens.
